[전혜진]님이 요청하신 영문일기(2)

Today is 방학 중에 한번 뿐인 등교일이다.
친구들을 만날 생각을 하니 가습이 콩닥콩닥 거린다.
I have qickly breakfast and went to school.
In the school 많은 나의 친구들이 있었다.
친구들을 보니 my face is full smil. 서로서로 껴안고
수다도 떨고 있다가 봉사활동을 하려고 각자 자기가 맡은 청소 구역으로
가서 열심히 청소을 했다.
' 여기 있는 우리반 아이들 모두 살이 통통하게 쪘구나.
하도 먹어서 그런가?' 하며 나 혼자서 속으로 웃었다.
방학 중에 이렇게 와서 청소도 하고 친구들도 만나는
이날은 방학 중에 제일 뜻 깊은 날이 아닐까?
이날 담임 선생님은 뵙지 못하였지만 아는 선생님이 대신 오셔서
우리를 맡아주시니 감사할 뿐이다. but 담임 선생님이 오셨으면
더 좋았을 거라는 씁쓸한 마음도 든다.
청소를 끝내거 우리들만의 이야기 꽃을 피울 때 같이 좋은 고등학교에 가자는 이야기,
3학년 올라가서 열심히 공부하자는 이야기 기타등등 이런 이야기를 들으니까 기분이 좋다.
나도 이 방학을 이용해서 3학년 과정을 미리 더 열심히 예습해야 하겠다는 마음이 든다.

Saturday,January sixth 2000;
Today is the date of induction of my school which is once in the vacation.
Just the thought of seeing my friend again gives me a thrill of joy.
I had breakfast quickly and went to school.
There were many friends in there.
On seeing one another, we had a radiant smile and embraced [hugged] each other.
After chatting for a long time..
We left for the our cleaning round to perform the service activity.
We cleaned up each round very hard.
now I thought that today like this - gathering together and cleaning up -
was the most meaningful day during the vacation.
Though we couldn't meet our homeroom teacher,
we received another teacher's guidance...
we are deeply grateful to him for his kindness.
Anyway I will do my best to be top student from various angles in the third grade.
