조기유학의 해악

최근 급증하는 조기유학은 아이들에게 몇 가지 좋지 않은 영향을 줄 수 있다. 첫째 조기유학을 경험한 아이들이 정체성의 위기를 경험하게 되는 경우가 많다. 아이들이 너무 이른 나이에 외국생활을 하게 되므로 자기들이 경험한 외국문화와 한국문화 사이에서 혼란에 빠지게 될 수 있는 것이다. 둘째 조기유학을 간 아이들이 모국어 구사에도 어려움을 겪을 수 있다. 우리말을 제대로 배우기도 전에 외국어를 배우게 되면 우리말 억양이 어눌해지거나 간단한 단어 사용도 어려워하게 될 것이다. 세째 가족관계(특히 부모와의 관계)가 안 좋아질 수 있다. 멀리 떨어져있는 가족이나 부모와 소통할 시간이 부족해지므로 결국은 부모를 자신들을 위한 후원자(심지어 돈 대주는 기계)로만 보는 경우도 생길수 있는 것이다. 이처럼 조기유학은 아이들 자신의 언어구사뿐만 아니라 인성면에 있어서도 부정적인 영향을 준다고 할 수 있다.

A recent fast-growing studying overseas at an early age can have several bad influences on children. First, Sometimes, kids who have studied aborad at an early age are facing an identity crisis in many cases. Living in a foreign country early in their life, they can fall into disorder between korean culture and foreign culture in which they have experienced. Second, kids who have gone overseas to study at an early age can have a lot of trouble in having a command of their native language. If they learn a foreign language first before learning mother tongue, they will not only be inarticulate in their accent of our language but also have difficulty using a simple vocabulary. Third, family relationships, especially the relationships of parents, can be in trouble. As they never have enough time to communicate with family and parents far away, it is possible that they can look upon their parents as a just sponsor for them, even as a machine providing money. Like this, Studying overseas at an early age can have a negative impact on the command of their language as well as on their Personality.
