1. [One day, your friends say, "Go ahead. Tell me. I'm all ears." But, of course, you would not expect to see ears sprouting up all over your friend's body!. In fact, “I'm all ears," means "I'm ready to listen."]
※sprout up : 싹이나다, 발아하다, 생기다, 나타나다. ※지각동사(see) +목적어(ears) + 현재분사(sprouting) 
※I'm all ears:잘 듣고 있다(생활영어에서 상대방에 말을 귀 기울이고 있다는 표현으로 사용됨) ☞어느 날 너의 친구는 말한다. “자 나에게 말해. 나는 온통 다 귀야.” 그러나, 물론 당신은 친구의 몸 전체에 귀가 생기는 것을 예상하지는 않을 것이다. 사실 “나는 온통 다 귀야”라는 표현은 “나는 들을 준비가 되어 있어”라는 뜻을 의미한다.
2. [An __EXPRESSION__ like this is called an idiom. You know all the words in the idiom, but you probably can't figure out its exact meaning. For example, when you hear __EXPRESSION__s like "I put my foot in mouth, and "He's in a real jam." you might get quite a different picture in your mind from what they actually mean.]
※like: ~같은, ~처럼 ※figure out:이해하다, 파악하다. ※be called:~라고 불리는 ※idiom:숙어, 관용구 ※what they actually mean:그것들이 실제로 의미하는 것 (what은 선포관 = the thing which) 
※put my foot in mouth: “발을 입속에 넣는다“ 엄청난 또는 어처구니 없는 말 실수를 했을때 자주 사용하는 표현입니다. 
※He's in a real jam:어려운 상황에 처해있다 ※get quite a different picture : 완전히 다른 그림을 갖다. 즉 다르게 이해하다.
☞이와 같은 표현은 관용구라고 말해 진다. 너는 이 관용구 속의 모든 단어들을 알고 있다, 그러나 너는 아마도 그 이디엄의 정확한 의미는 알 수 없을 것이다. 예를 들어 너가 “나는 내 발을 입에 넣었어”와 같은 표현을 들었을 때, 그리고 그는 진짜 jam 속에 있어“와 같은 표현을 들었을 때 너는 아마도 너의 머릿속에, 그것들이 실제로 의미하는 것과 완전히 다른 그림을 그릴 것이다.

[의문사 + 주어 + 동사] 어순임에 주의. ※something stupid:어리석은 것, 멍청한 것(something + 형용사) ※respectively:각각 ※many interesting idioms (that are) often used~:자주 사용되는 많은 흥미로운 관용구 ※that:은 주격관계대명사로 that이하가 many interesting idioms을 수식하고 있으며, ※It is not possible to~:가주어(it), 진주어(to~) ※all at once:한꺼번에, 동시에, 갑자기 ※give up:포기하다(abandon, yield)
☞너는 그 이디엄들이 무엇을 의미하는지 추측할 수 있니? 흥미롭게도 그것들(이디엄들)은 각각 의미 한다 “나는 원가 멍청한 것을 말했다” 그리고 “그는 어려운 상황에 처해있다”. 영어에는 일상생황에서 종종 사용되는 흥미 있는 이디엄들이 많이 있다. 그것들을 모두 한꺼번에 공부하는 것은 불가능하다. 하지만 포기하지 마라.
